I never thought that – in the year 2026 – I would be moving back to using Firefox as my daily browser and Mapquest as my daily navigation app. But here we are. And here I am drafting this post in a Firefox browser like it’s the aughts.
Whether it’s a privacy-focused web browser or a map layer that helps you understand the proliferation of ALPR cameras around you, these decisions matter to me now more than ever.
If a company takes a stand and actively makes a choice to avoid AI, disable tracking, stand strong against the political renaming of bodies of water, or resist the the surveillance state, I will actively make a choice to use (and pay for) their services.
